What do you wear when you’re feeling all growed up?

A frilly, ruffly dress?

Obviously.

sheris-shower-giftWore it to my first baby shower (congratulations Sheri and Paul!), which makes me feel like a true adult.

dior-scarfThe dress is from Vincent Park. The Dior scarf is from Printemps in Paris. Man, I would do anything to be there right now.

mcs-watch

The men’s vintage Omega watch (that I so desperately wish were mine) belongs to my husband. I’m considering trolling eBay for another men’s watch — maybe a big gaudy, cheesy one in yellow gold.mamas-earrings

I yanked the earrings — which are from New Mexico — from my ma’s jewelry collection. I’m going to wear them with everything. Always. Even though playing dress up in your mom’s clothes is hardly a grown up thing to do.

  • Great outfit! I love how all the pieces come from such eclectic sources.

The title of your post reminds me of an F. Scott Fitzgerald quote on a card my coworkers gave me: “Being grown up is a terribly hard thing to do. It is much easier to go from one childhood to another.”

  • Totally adore that watch – really love the old leather strap. Rob loves oversized, mens style watches on me, but I do find his watches are too heavy for me to wear.

I love how baby showers are a good excuse to dress prim and proper.

  • Gorgeous scarf! Don’t we all wish we could be somewhere else? I wonder if anyone ever wishes to be where we are?

  • lOOOOOOOOOOOve your outfit today!!!
I love the colour of the scarf, the boots with the dress…
    You look absolutly fab !!

  • i love your site! stumbled across it while browsing vancityallie. you could totally have your own shopping and personal styling tour in vancouver – and i’d like to sign up!

  • YOU look like you just stepped out of a tres chic FASHIONABLY FAB magazine! The scarf is sooo Beautiful! p.s. I luv the soles!

  • Lisa — Hilarious! I love the idea of hopping from childhood to childhood.

Liv — Maybe with a leather strap, your husband’s watch would be lighter? More wearable?

MizzJ — I admit — sometimes I’m thrilled to be where I am, but usually that’s when I’m elsewhere ;)

Sofia — thank you! The scarf would look gorgeous with the shoes you just posted, wouldn’t it?

Mango — thanks! Get paid to shop? That sounds like a dream job!

Gerri — What sort of art would you pair with those boots? A portrait of Robin Hood, perhaps?

  • Kels – yes you’re probably right but i think a leather strap only goes with certain types of watches, and neither of us have one of those yet.

BTW, i can’t believe you have that same belt as mine (http://is.gd/2xnZd) – I got that quite a few years ago and I even ordered it online too. And in the same colour too? I think it also came in another colour.

  • Oh oh oh I love this post.

I like to wear my Italian suit, makes me feel really old. ha ha ha/ . And super swank.

  • Wow. I love those boots with the outfit! You look amazing!

As for the Printemps scarf– I totally agree with you. I miss Paris. I used to go once a year, and skipped this year, and am feeling antsy! :(

  • Darling this is simply refined elegance at its best. Love the way you made the look more playful with the incorporation of slouchy boots. J’adore! :)

  • Liv — yes! the exact. same. belt. And I love it, but I never wear it for some weird reason. I’ll have to whip it out.

Dakota — there’s nothing better than a well-cut suit, is there? Unless you have to wear one every day, I suppose.

Dreamsequins — you went to Paris every year? That’s rediculously amazing.

Cafe — the boots are so comfy and make any outfit look a little less done-up, which is nice.

  • Gorgeous look, darling! Loving the slouchy boots and scarf especially!
