Warmth! Colour! Summer!

Not here, mind you. But in Australia. Where one of my favourite magazines (Vogue Living Australia) features Kelly Wearstler‘s gorgeous L.A. home. So, ah, any interest in making over my little Vancouver bungalow, Kelly? Photograph by Grey Crawford.

On the half shell

Unlike my sister-in-law Jaclyn, who has her jewelry neatly displayed, I strew my rings and things all over the house. Responsible? No. But now that I’ve got a bunch of oyster shells to store them in, my little piles of jewelry are so much more interesting. ‘Tis the easiest thing in the world: I found [...]

Carnivorous plants = elegant home accessory

It’s true. Or at least it can be. If you pick a pretty little plant and beautiful container to build a tasteful terrarium (sounds so science-y, doesn’t it?). You can make these (almost) self-contained ecosystems yourself. The best part? You rarely have to water them. Sign me up! Photo by Eric Morton. Thanks, Bryce, for sending it my way.

Dessert first

Served homemade ice cream sandwiches for dessert last night. And when I say homemade, I really mean “home assembled” because I bought the cookies, put a scoop of store-bought ice cream between them and then shoved them in the freezer for an hour or so. It’s the kind of dessert I love (thank you, Elisa, [...]

FYI (For Your Inspiration)

I absolutely love finding out what inspires other people. Me? I’m inspired by magazines, beautiful photos, gorgeous workspaces and other people’s mood boards. The clippings and cut-outs and collages and collections — they’re all absolutely fascinating. The one above is from Apartment Therapy. The fish is my favourite part of this Lanvin mood board (photo [...]

You were wondering

how the bookshelf that I painted as I roughed up my jeans turned out? Well, it looks a little something like this. And on top of it I put three of my favourite table lamps. The closest is from the Cross, the second was a gift and the skinny one is from Ikea.
