If you, like me, can’t get enough of painted hardwood floors, sparse furniture, high ceilings and a certain eclectic rusticness, then you’ll love My Scandinavian Home.

Named one of Domino.com’s top design blogs of the year, it’s filled with beautifully curated photos drawn from all over the decor-loving internet.

The aesthetic is one I love — a little shabby and old, a little sleek and new. It’s as cool as it is warm.

With angled ceilings, lots of sheepskin and the occasional Ikea piece, it’ll reinvigorate your appreciation for white walls. So bookmark My Scandinavian Home already and bookmark The Anthology while you’re at it.

In The Anthology’s Bookmark column we explore some of the most inspiring places on the wild, wild web.

‘Tis the season for a lot of things — shopping, parties, baking. Lots and lots of baking. ‘Tis a bit of the top. So switch it up with some unbaking. As in raw vegan desserts using recipes from This Rawsome Vegan Life, a beautifully photographed Vancouver-based blog whose desserts use no sugar, eggs, or butter. And they’re good. I promise.

And easy. I swear. At least these lemon coconut squares are — they’re the only one of the desserts I’ve made myself (my sister made me a million others. Thanks, Riss!). I’m sure the healthy meal recipes are delicious too, but that’s not what this season is about, ’tis it?

In The Anthology’s Bookmark column we explore some of the most inspiring places on the wild, wild web.

It was this image (which I found on Pinterest) that first drew me to Bleubird. It’s the cutest mom and kid shot ever. Plus, I love her overalls and the little one’s onesie.

Turns out Bleubird is full of cool finds– blogger James Kicinski-McCoy runs an online vintage shop (though it’s not up at the moment) and I love the casual coolness of her picks. There’s something simple, almost rustic about them.

An aesthetic that extends to her home.

And her baking, apparently.

It’s the kind of mommy blog that you don’t have to be a mommy blog reader to love. So bookmark Bleubird already and bookmark The Anthology while you’re at it.

In case you need further convincing that graphic designers have the best blogs, I present Emmadime by Emma Robertson, a designer, knitter and blogger from the Bay Area.

It’s chockablock full of quirky fashion…

Sweet food shots…

Design (’cause she’s a designer)…

And all that is beautiful in life. So bookmark Emmadime already and bookmark The Anthology while you’re at it.

In The Anthology’s Bookmark column we explore some of the most inspiring places on the wild, wild web.

For those who like their veggies clean and their language filthy, I give you Thug Kitchen, a recipe site that’s as b-b-b-bad to the bone as vegan food gets.

The language? Not so suitable for work. But the recipes? So full of veggies even Gwyneth Paltrow would approve. UPDATE: She does.

So bookmark Thug Kitchen already and bookmark The Anthology while you’re at it. Thank you, Tolek, for sending it my way!

In The Anthology’s Bookmark column we explore some of the most inspiring places on the wild, wild web.

My to-do list always involves DIYs. Sometimes they’re as simple as assembling an Ikea dresser, but often I have a list of legit DIYs I’d like to tackle. Do I often D them? No, but I love the idea. Maybe that’s why I love Oleander and Palm, a blog run by Canadian-turned-Californian Jeran McConnel.

It’s filled with serious DIYs like her ombre heart napkins and simpler DIYs like this framed geometric heart. Plus, a ton of recipes — cookies and such, sure, but I especially like the sound of lemon lime bitters.

And she loves to throw a themed party. Up next? St. Patrick’s Day.

Oh, and her lavender sachet business cards put my business cards to shame.

So bookmark Oleander and Palm already and bookmark The Anthology while you’re at it.

It’s always a joy to find a pinner winner. And Dree Harper is exactly that.

Not only does the Refinery29 contributor and stylist keep tabs on her favourite pinners of the day, but her pin boards are filled with bright, beautiful, sometimes eccentric picks.

In fact, it’s enough to make you want more of her aesthetic and it turns out she blogs, just not that often.

If you’re obsessed with Pinterest like I’m obsessed with Pinterest then you’ll love her pins. So bookmark Dree Harper on Pinterest already and bookmark The Anthology while you’re at it.

Next week marks the launch of Simon Fraser University Continuing Studies’ Digital Communications Program, one I developed alongside some of my favourite geeky peeps Jon Becker and Liv Hung. I’m going to be lecturing at a few of the courses (oh you lucky students). On what, you ask? Well, blogging, among other things.

One of the books I’m encouraging my students to read is Blog, Inc. by LA-based designer Joy Cho.

Which brings me to The Anthology’s latest Bookmark: the author’s blog Oh Joy!

Oh Joy! is part personal diary, part collection of beautiful things. And it brings me great…happiness (you thought I was going to say joy, didn’t you?).

So bookmark Oh Joy! already and bookmark The Anthology while you’re at it.

Clearly I have a thing for blogs based in South Africa. First Miss Moss and now another Cape Town-based lifestyle blog Size Too Small.

It’s edited by Mariah Brightenberg, who runs the stationery and odds and ends shop Selah.

And it’s filled with her favourite new collections, look book excerpts and home decor picks.

Plus bits and pieces from her own lovely life on the other side of the world. So bookmark Size Too Small already and bookmark The Anthology while you’re at it.

Bookmark | Le Marché St. George

In The Anthology’s Bookmark column we explore some of the most inspiring places on the wild, wild web.

It’s not often a company’s website makes the cut as a Bookmark. Actually I don’t think it’s ever happened before.

But the site belonging to Le Marché St. George, a tiny cafe tucked away in a residential neighbourhood in Vancouver, is such a beauty it deserves to be featured.

The photography is dreamy, their products are beautiful, and the events they host — though I’ve never been to one — look like good ol’ unpretentious fun.

The Marché just celebrated its second anniversary (félicitations!). If you’re in Vancouver and you haven’t yet been, it’s well worth the trip to St. George and East 28th Avenue. If you’re not, you’ll find plenty of inspiration on their site.

So bookmark Le Marché St. George already and bookmark The Anthology while you’re at it.
